Gaylord Area Council for the Arts is inviting entries for the 24rd annual Juried Fine Arts Exhibition, subject to the conditions of this Call to Entry. Artwork can be in any fine art medium (2D & 3D), except photography. Each artist may submit up to 3 pieces.

Sharon Berkan-Dent
I am a lifelong artist whose creative journey spans pen and ink, textiles, jewelry, and graphite drawing. My career began in advertising, where I earned both regional
and international recognition as a graphic designer and computer illustrator. A deepening interest in textiles eventually led me to jewelry-making, which I pursued at the Midland Center for the Arts, where I have also been teaching since 1997. Specializing in lost wax casting, my jewelry has been featured in a solo exhibition at the Midland Center for the Arts, as well as in Art Jewelry Magazine and the book CAST. In 2015, a return to drawing classes reignited my passion for graphite, resulting in works that have been accepted into both regional and international exhibitions. While I continue to create and teach jewelry, my current artistic focus centers on graphite drawings that explore the relationship between the natural world, animals, and people. These drawings have received recognition at local, regional, and national exhibitions, including First Place at ArtWalk and Best of Show at Creative 360’s Animals exhibition, among others. |
Eligibility & Agreement
Submitting an entry into the Gaylord Arts 2024 Juried Fine Art Exhibit constitutes agreement by the artist to the conditions and requirements as stated in this Call for Entries. Michigan artists 14 years of age and older may enter. Part-time Michigan residents are eligible. All entries must be original works of the artist's own creation and have been completed in the last five years. Artwork accepted in previous juried Gaylord Arts' shows is not eligible for this exhibit. Gaylord Arts reserves the right to photograph accepted entries for publicity or archival purposes. The juror determines which entries will be displayed and given awards in the exhibit, but Gaylord Arts reserves the right to reject any work for any reason. All accepted works will remain as placed throughout the show (unless sold).
Sales, Conditions & Fees
Gaylord Arts will retain a 30% commission on the sale of any item displayed in this exhibit. Up to three pieces total may be submitted. A nonrefundable entry fee of $50 for Gaylord Arts' members or $60 for non-members must accompany each entry form. 2-D art must be framed and wired for hanging at the time of submission. No sawtooth hangers. Clearly print on the back of each piece:

- The title of work,
- medium
- price or "not for sale".

- Now - August 29, 2025: Accepting submissions (If submitting your entry form and fee on-line, artwork must be received at the gallery during open hours, no later August 29th at 2:00 p.m. (EDT).)
- Opening Reception and Award announcements: Saturday, September 6, 5-7pm
PICKUP DATES:
- *November 12 - 14 all artwork from the show must be picked up.
Submission Procedure
3 pieces may be submitted. Completed entry form, fee, and physical artwork must be received no later than August 29, 2025 by 2:00 pm (EDT). Late entries will not be accepted. Artists will be notified by email regarding acceptance of artwork into the show.
