While at the seafront village of Vik, I turned my camera 180 degrees away from the Reynisfjara beach towards the dormant Katla Volcano and Myrdalsjokull Glacier in the distance to capture the sunlight illuminating the Vikurkirja Church. Built in 1934 on the high ground above the village, believed to be the safest spot from lava flows or glacier meltwater. My timing is perfect as the church is aglow with the morning light. A barren land with the occasional farm or church sitting by itself is a common sight in this beautiful land of Fire and Ice.
