Members - $15
Non-members - $20

Calling Michigan artists to enter this year’s Black & White with a Hint of Color Exhibit. This is a Multi-Media Exhibition of artwork that is black & white; an addition of color to each piece is optional but encouraged.

Conditions for Entry:

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • All medium accepted  but must be artists original work and in good condition. 
  • Pieces accepted on a first-come basis
  • All Flat works must be matted and/or framed and wired (ready to hang)
  • No sawtooth hangers
  • Must be labeled on the back or in another hidden spot with the artists' name, title, medium and sale price.  
  • Agree to leave accepted entries on display in the GACA Center for the duration of this show. 
  • GACA will retain a 30% commission on any item sold during this show.

Michigan photographers are invited to enter the GACA 2021 Juried Photography Exhibit. Digital entries are due by February 20, 2021. Awards will be given in two categories, as well as “People’s Choice”. An Opening Reception & Awards
Ceremony* will be held on April 10th, from 5-7 pm. The accepted entries will be on display at the GACA Art Center from April 7th—May 29th. 

Awards In Traditional and Hybrid Categories:
1st Place: $125
2nd Place: $100
​3rd Place: $75
Honorable Mention & People’s Choice Awards 

Eligibility:

Michigan photographers 16 years old and older and seasonal residents may enter. All entries must be original works of the artist’s own creation. Works exhibited in previous GACA juried shows will not be accepted. Entries will be accepted in these two categories:
Traditional Photography: Images taken by the photographer relying on any photographic process. Post- processing of any type allowed.

Hybrid Photography: Any art work that combines photographs into an image (either digitally or physically) and/or combines photography with another media (painting, drawing, collage, etc.). All photographs in the image must have been taken by the artist. 

About the Juror:

Bill Schwab’s career as a photographer and publisher now spans over 3 decades with work in many collections, publications, galleries and museum collections around the world. He has been a pioneer in the area of online representation and branding of his photographic art having successfully managed a worldwide collector base for many years, as well as consulted with other artists and galleries on the subject. In addition to his work as
a photographer, he facilitates workshops in several photo- graphic processes a year, as well as leads expeditions
of photographers twice a year to Iceland. Bill is also founder and host of “Photostock” an annual gathering
of photographers, collectors and enthusiasts for work- shops and reviews in Northern Michigan.

Submission Procedures:

  • Up to 3 images (total) may be submitted. Submissions must be in the categories of Traditional or Hybrid Photography (i.e. 2 in Traditional, 1 in Hybrid or other combinations).
  • Images must be emailed (.jpg format). Image size approximately 1200 x 1800 pixels.
  • Image files names as follows: lastname_firstname_title_category of entry
  • Submit entries by email no later than Feb 20th to gacaexhibits@gmail.com
  • Entry fee: $20 for GACA members, $30 for non- members. Payment by cash, check or credit card.
  • Photographers will be notified by email regarding acceptance of images by Mar 1st.
  • Accepted entries—framed, wired and ready to hang—must be delivered to the GACA Art Center from Mar 24th to 27th. No sawtooth hangars.
  • Clearly print on the back of each accepted piece: Photographer’s name, title of work and selling price. If not for sale—”For Exhibit Only”.
  • Pick up unsold photos between May 26th-29th. Photos not retrieved within 30 days become the property of GACA, unless arrangements are made.
  • Entry form and fee must be received by no later than Feb. 20th in order for images to be eligible for judging.
